very interesting, i'll bet it was thrilling to say the least; like you i haven't cared in 20ish years, but i have to admit to being curious as to the new LP; how many would you say were in attendance, and did you perchance have your field recorder with you :)

I'm curious as to how the new guitarist sounded,Frusciante and Flea were a potent duo.

In attendance, roughly 350

No field recordings - they were pretty tight about people doing the whole cellphone recording thing. Flea spent the bulk of the show playing and interacting with his daughter. It was a very family vibe.

New guitarist, who isn't really new, sounded very good. He sang a lot and took over for Anthony on some songs. The new material was very good - a real Fela vibe on a tune called Ethiopia.

Had a very interesting talk with David Fricke and just stood in wonder of Rick Rubin's beard. Rock was Rock and Al Jardine just smiled a lot - he has a rehearsal space/studio down there and a lot of the material had been worked out there.
